BEATTY, NV (KLAS) – It’s not just the big cities that host 4th of July celebrations.

We’re headed to the small town of Beatty, 120 miles northwest of Nye County and less than a two-hour drive from Las Vegas.

Their parade will close the two highways that run through there!

The Nevada Dept of Transportation would like to inform you that both US95 and State Highway 374 will be detoured during the hour-long parade, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

If you are coming from the Amargosa Valley area (northbound on US 95), you will be detoured to Cedar and First St. This road will take you back to Main, which is also on US 95.

If you are coming from the west on State Hwy 374, you may find detours at Avenue C of Irving.

Don’t just go for the parade, though. There will be an egg toss, sack races, three-legged races, and a watermelon eating contest.

Well done Beatty, and congratulations, America!

Fasten your seatbelt, drive safely – and please put that phone down!
