No action against Thiruvalla municipal staff who filmed ‘Reel’ at work: Minister Rajesh

Kottayam: Local Self Government Minister MB Rajesh has come to the rescue of Thiruvalla Municipality employees who were issued notices for recording a ‘Reel’ at work.

Rajesh has appealed to the local government not to take any disciplinary action against the eight workers whose ‘Reel’, in which they perform on a popular Malayalam film song, has gone viral.

Rajesh praised the efforts of workers who turned up for work even on Sundays. “They turned up for work on a public holiday on the instructions of the district collector as part of formulating measures to tackle heavy rains. As far as I know, they filmed the Reel without any hindrance to their work. The workers have the full support of the government for all their creative and cultural activities,” Minister Rajesh said.

The minister, however, warned the employees not to disrupt their work without disturbing the public. “The government has already given instructions not to organise any programmes in offices during working hours,” minister Rajesh said.

Earlier, IAS officer Prasanth N had extended his support to the employees. “Let such employees, who work with heart and soul without worrying about overtime, enjoy what they do,” Prasanth wrote on Facebook.
